Hello, my name is Jeff Thoman, and I am president of Kepmad Systems and the designer and author of ImageBuddy. This READ ME file contains basic information about ImageBuddy which answers the following questions:

• Is this all the documentation there is?
• How is ImageBuddy distributed?
• System Requirments?
• What is included in the ImageBuddy package?
• How do I register and what does it cost?
• How do I report bugs or request enhancements?
• Can I distribute ImageBuddy to others?
• What is the revision history of ImageBuddy?
What version of ImageBuddy is this?
Version 1.5.0 Released 09/04/2001
Please Check The ImageBuddy web site at http://www.kepmad.com/ to look for a newer release. See bottom of this file for revision history.
Is this all the documentation there is?
No! ImageBuddy has a 27 page users manual that is avalible online. The manual is avalible in PDF and an online HTML version. Look for the manual at URL below:

What is ImageBuddy all about?
ImageBuddy is an integrated photo printing program for MacOS computers. What does that mean? Well, using ImageBuddy's simple graphic user interface, you can quickly create pages for printing in are truly what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) point&click fashion. You can specify size & placment of images. Then, in one simple step, you print your pages to any Mac OS compatible printer.
How is ImageBuddy distributed?
The ImageBuddy package is distributed in three folders, both on the internet and on shareware CD-ROM's. The complete ImageBuddy software package is distributed as a "binhexed Stuffit" file which can be expanded using "Stuffit Expander" by Aladdin Systems (not included). If you received ImageBuddy on a CD-ROM, your CD should contain all three folders. Otherwise, you can download the folders (or upgrade to the latest version of ImageBuddy) from the official ImageBuddy web site:

System Requirements?
Classic or Carbon
If your version of ImageBuddy ends with an "x" ie v1.5.0x it is the Carbon version and it is reccommended that you run that version in OSX. If your version of contains no "x" on the end then it is the Classic version for System 8.5 and above.
MEMORY
Classic
At least 40 MB of free RAM is required to run ImageBuddy, virtural memory seems to work fine, but just degrades performance. ImageBuddy demands so much memory based on the large file size of todays digital camera and image processing ability of ImageBuddy. If possible I suggest 80+MB if you can afford it. I am looking into lowering memory requirements in a future upgrade.
Carbon
The more advanced memory management of OSX eliminates ImageBuddy memory requirement.
VIDEO MEMORY/MONITOR
ImageBuddy does not care how much video memory you have, since this will not affect the quality of the images you print. It will only affect the quality at which your monitor can display the images. Any video card able to display 256, thousands, or millions of colors are fine.
DISK SPACE
Roughly 6MB of hard disk space is required to install the entire ImageBuddy package several more MB's are required for the printer driver to render the page. At Least 30MB Recommended.
SYSTEM SOFTWARE
ImageBuddy Classic has only been tested on System 8.5 to 9.2, but should work back to Mac OS 7.0. An OSX version has been released as of Version 1.4.0. See the web site for more details.
PROCESSOR
ImageBuddy should work on any PowerMac with enough memory and hard drive space and has been tested on a old PowerMac 7100/66.
What is included in the ImageBuddy package?
The three folders of the ImageBuddy package are listed below.
Downloaded File: "ImageBuddy.hqx" or "ImageBuddy_x.hqx"
ImageBuddy (Application File)
Image Masks
• A library of Mask files for use with ImageBuddy
• Mask DataBase Folder
• The documentation to see how to create your own Mask Files.
Image Overlays
• A library of Overlay files for use with ImageBuddy
• "Overlay List" the Overlay file DataBase
• The documentation to see how to create your own Overlay Files.
Image Layouts
• A library of Event file Layouts for use with ImageBuddy
• The documentation to see how to create your own Event Layout Files.
How do I register and what does it cost?
The single user registration fee for ImageBuddy is $15. This is a one time fee which includes all future versions of ImageBuddy. Site and world-wide licenses are also available. For more info, please read the "Register Info" document included in the ImageBuddy application folder.
Where do I report bugs or request enhancements?
If you find a software bug or desire an enhancement, I would appreciate you letting me know about it. You can email me at "thoman@Kagi.com". Please understand though that my email is not a help desk. If you have functionality questions, please refer to the "ImageBuddy Documentation" first. I sometimes don't have time to respond to all the email I get, but I promise that I do read all email carefully, especially bug reports and enhancement requests. Thanks for understanding.
Can I distribute ImageBuddy to others?
The software...you bet! Your registration code...no. That would violate your shareware agreement. I want to continue to enhance ImageBuddy, but I need your support in the form of registrations. Also, if you distribute ImageBuddy to others, please don't break it apart. That is, distribute it in its compressed form so all the right pieces are included.
Also feel free to post ImageBuddy on public bulletin boards, ftp sites, or web sites where other people can get free access to it. But please tell me, so I know where it is. That way I can refer others to it. And of course, post it in its compressed form, just as if you were distributing it to a friend.
If you wish to put ImageBuddy on a commercial shareware CD-ROM, that can also be arranged, but please ask for my permission first. If we agree that you are selling the CD and not a license to the shareware on the CD, I'll nearly always say yes.
